Owl’s Rest Lavender and Olive Farm – Enjoy a lavender muffin and unique home-made cordials. Various essential oils as well!

Lords Wines – 10km’s from McGregor on the Road to Nowhere - Beautiful, peaceful setting. Lovely hosts and very good wine and a Cap Classique. Good food also. Look out for the resident Blue Crane family!

Temenos Retreat – Garden of Silence, in Town. Tebaldi’s restaurant. Exquisite garden. Take your time to enjoy this.

La Montanara Cheese farm and Deli – Buy cheese from the source. Woolworths products. Exquisite setting. Very good pizzas also! Cheese and Wine tasting. Table Braai – Braai your own rib eye steak and halloumi kebab at your table while sipping on a glass of wine!

Mardouw Olive products - All Mardouw’s extra virgin olive oil are pure, natural oils made from hand-picked olives and same-day cold extraction of the best cultivars.

Bushmanspad Wine Estate – The Home of Pet Nat (8 varieties). Oldest known method of making sparkling wine. Pétillant-Naturel (natural sparkling) is a catch-all term for practically any sparkling wine made in the méthode ancestrale, meaning the wine is bottled before primary fermentation is finished, without the addition of secondary yeasts or sugars. So, pet nat wine is a low sugar wine.

Greenlands Farm – Farm Table restaurant open from Friday to Sunday. The best local and seasonal products.

Bon Frutti Farm Stall – Lots of fun things to do for kids and parents.

Hiking trails


Penhill Manor, Nuy Valley -There are 5 hiking trails from the farm, one leads up to a gorgeous natural rock pool – an
ideal spot for picnics on sweltering summer days. PLEASE BOOK.


Excelsior Manor Guesthouse, Ashton- 5km trail run through the vineyards.
The Excelsior Wine Walk is a three-day excursion with daily distances of between 10 to 17 kilometres. Phone for
more info.


Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve, McGregor - Permits may be purchased for R50 per adult and R30 per child at the reserve
office or through CapeNature Central Reservations. You will need to obtain a permit to hike in most of the reserves
that are accessible to the public. All hiking permit information is available on the reserve pages. You are welcome on
Saturdays and Sundays.

Fish Eagle@Van Loveren - Bonnievale Road-Come and explore Van Loveren "picnic on a stick" for R60pp. Includes
water,biltong,sweets, dried fruits and the walking permit. The Fish Eagle hiking trail starts on the estate and
takes visitors along the river, as well as through the various veld types found there.


Leopard Trail, Swellendam Road - Waterfall walk, Bushmen paintings, old car museum. Day visitors welcome by appointment.


Nerina Guest Farm - By appointment


Arendsig Single Vineyard Wines, Stormsvlei, Wakkerstroom - Come and enjoy the hiking trails and discover the unique plants. They will take you on a 5km farm walk followed with a coffee in the Shiraz vineyard and wine tasting at the cellar. (The hike is for all ages; young ones can bring their bikes). Please book!

Child Friendly Options


Ashton Winery - There is a great area with jungle gym for the kids, all within eyesight of the tasting room. There is a giant chess board too! On sunny days there is also a jumping castle.


Birds Paradise - Besides the array of animals to view, sit down at the restaurant and order some
breakfast or lunch, and browse through the curio shop for interesting souvenirs. It’s kid-friendly with a big playground to burn off the little one’s energy.
