6 December - Birding Big Day
You are invited to a Birding Big Day at Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve Picnic Spot.
Bring your binoculars and bird book (a bird check list will be provided) and get birding on BirdLife SA’s One day of the year where the public is requested to assist with noting all birds in your neighbourhood!
You can enter the Vrolijkheid competition which covers a radius of 6 km from the picnic spot or enter the BirdLife SA’ competition which covers 50 km from the picnic spot. Register directly with BirdLife SA on their website for the 50 km radius competition!
We start birding from 06h00 till 18h00, however you are welcome to bird any time you like between those hours. At 15h00 the local competition closes and all check lists must be handed in for counting. The winners will be announced at 15h30 and the day will be ended off with Friends of Vrolijkheid’s Annual BoerieBraai event.
Bring your picnic basket with utensils, refreshments and extra’s, FoV will sponsor the Boerewors, Bread rolls and Tamatie Smoor!!
Indigenous plants as well as FoV branded clothing will be on sale.
